The name 'Awenda' comes from the Wendat (Huron) language, meaning 'the word of a man binds him.' This phrase was used to describe the Wendat people, who lived in the area for hundreds of years. Awenda Provincial Park was created in 1975 on the shores of Georgian Bay in Ontario to honour the Wendat people. The park has many different natural environments, including forests, wetlands, and glacial formations.
Inspired by this heritage, we carry the name Awenda forward as our brand. Awenda embodies a spirit that is natural, silky, and unique. The brand continues this spirit by creating products that reflect Canada's natural beauty and values of respect, care, and responsibility. Awenda follows the teachings of the Indigenous people about living in harmony with the land. Awenda honours this connection through natural materials and sustainable practices. Every product protects people in a gentle way and is kind to nature.
